There are a couple of consultations that are currently on-going that we wanted to bring to your attention: Dr Johnson Avenue / Tooting Common & Borough-wide consultation on default 20mph speed limit
Dr Johnson Avenue / Tooting Common
Thanks to a successful bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund, there are plans afoot to work on improving Tooting Common. As part of these proposals, there is the opportunity to see if Dr Johnson Avenue can be re-incorporated into the common. The consultation closes this Friday 15th April, and you can view all the details here. There are strongly held views both for and against the plans. I'm really pleased that as part of the proposals, if they go-ahead, there would be an initial 6 month trial to monitor what happens to traffic. This would allow changes to be made if issues arose.
Borough-wide 20mph speed limit
Following years of campaigning, the council are currently consulting on proposals for borough-wide 20mph speed limits with exceptions for certain streets. Whilst Bedford and Furzedown wards have already got 20mph limits across the wards, it's important that your views are heard on this too. We have till the 15th May to respond to this consultation.
