Good Friday shooting shakes Northcote residents

5.27.27pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 10th Apr 2007

The fatal shooting of Krystal Kaye at her home in Belleville Road in the Northcote area of Battersea has made national news. It is deeply shocking for local residents that this type of crime should happen on their doorsteps. A man has been arrested and charged with her murder.

It is too early to draw any conclusions about managing crime in the area. More details will emerge in due course, and we have already had enough unhelpful speculation on a connection to a parking dispute. The overwhelming thought is on the sheer tragedy of it as Ms Kaye's family and friends try to pick up the pieces.
