Caroline Pidgeon visits Chestnut Avenue after cull

Having heard of the premature and highly unpopular cull of trees along Chestnut Avenue Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, came to see for herself and find out more about what has been happening.

Local campaigner Jon Irwin told her, "The way in which the Tories have gone about this has caused real distress in the local community. It seems as if the consultation was orchestrated in a way to get the outcome that they wanted whilst disregarding the views of over 5000 local people whose petition was supported by tree experts who had suggested that with appropriate management many of the trees could have had 30-40 years more life ahead of them."
