Tooting Lib Dems have welcomed the council decision to stop through traffic on Oakmead and Ravenstone Street near the junction with Bedford Hill.
The roads will be blocked with a barrier so that only cyclists and pedestrians can access them. The closure from 29 June is for a trial period of at least six months.
Lib Dem activist Jon Irwin said: “We are hopeful that the change will be supported by the community to become a permanent feature. This is great news for the parents and children at Ravenstone Primary School, who have raised road safety concerns about this location for many years.”
As with all trials, there will be a consultation period. The Lib Dems urge all interested parties to support the closure by going to the consultation website https://haveyoursay.citizenspace.com/wandsworthecs/oakmead/consult_view/
